The Indians defeated the San Diego Padres, 9-4, in Peoria, AZ.
The Indians got a quality start from UBALDO JIMENEZ (4.0IP, 4H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 4K) and scored 6 times in the 8th inning to break the game open. SHELLEY DUNCAN hit his 5th homer of the spring and drove in his team-best 13th and 14th runs with the 2-run blast in the 8th.
The Indians also got a 3-run double from MATT PAGNOZZI in the inning. Indians got on the board first in the 2nd inning on a solo homer from TRAVIS HAFNER (his 2nd of the spring), scored on an RBI ground out from Hafner in the 6th inning and scored again in the 7th on a double by GREGORIA PETIT before breaking the game open in the 8th. SHIN-SOO CHOO went 2 for 3 w/a pair of doubles. DAN WHEELER recorded his 3rd consecutive scoreless outing and won his 2nd game of the spring.
